North West based singer Jessica Luise returns with her third single release ‘Nice Try’ on 22nd January 2021. Recorded at Matchbox Productions in Warrington, ‘Nice Try’ is set to kick off an incredible year for Jess.

The uplifting melody of ‘Nice Try’ pairs with the melancholic nature of the lyrics to create a bittersweet but blissful song, which was written as a form of closure after a personal experience. The battle between head and heart is an experience so familiar to most, and ‘Nice Try’ explores the back and forth of falling for someone you know you shouldn’t. “You make me weak at the knees, you do”, Jess sings, before questioning why she feels so intensely about someone that she knows could hurt her. Jess’ impressive vocal range only adds to this ordeal of emotions, switching from a passionate intensity to a delicate, vulnerable whisper at a moment’s notice.

Jess says of the single: “This song is the one that helped me blossom as an artist. The simplicity yet rawness of the lyrics made this song quite cathartic to write and record.”

‘Nice Try’ follows up Jessica Luise’s second single ‘Television Mister’, and places itself as the perfect transition between her previous release and something much, much bigger. The breezy warmth of the single creates a memorable listening experience for fans of The Sundays, beabadoobie, Wolf Alice and Fleetwood Mac. Her previous releases have seen support from BBC Introducing Merseyside as well as nationwide airplay on Co-op Radio.
